“Outdoor recreation serves an important purpose: it provides opportunities for people to interact with nature. Outdoor recreation activities act like windows to the environment, and facilitate experiences in nature. Most people do not work in nature-related professions — outdoor recreation becomes the lens through which people interact with, and understand nature”.
